Scottish Sports Awards call for nominations

Calling all sporting Scots; the deadline for nominations for the Sunday Mail sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards 2018 is fast approaching.
The call comes ahead of the event on December 6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.
The awards recognised excellence by Scots in a wide variety of sports and celebrates their
achievements. The closing date for nominations is October 1.
Past winners of the Scottish Sports Personality Award include Sammi Kinghorn and Andy Murray.
It has been another thrilling year for sport in the country with the 2018 European Championships
being held in Glasgow that saw ten days of brilliant sport and history made with the first ever mixed
golf team event at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course.
The Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia saw Scotland return home with 44 medals
including nine gold.
Laura Muir continued her incredible rise as she won her first senior medals in 2018 and won gold in Berlin at the European Athletics Championships. Duncan Scott won four medals, including three golds, in the swimming to go with his six he won earlier in the year at the Commonwealth Games.
The Scottish National Women’s Team qualified for their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup while Celtic completed a double treble and Scotland Rugby regained the Calcutta Cup against England.
