The best places to spend Valentine’s Day in Glasgow – on a student budget

Written by on 12th February 2019

Whether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with the love of your life, or having a ‘galentines’ day with your friends Glasgow has so much to offer for this holiday. It’s hard to splash out for date nights when you’re a student, so I’m keeping this list as student friendly as possible since we all love bargains.

All Bar One

All Bar One have a few deals perfect for Valentine’s Day this year. The Glasgow bar’s ‘Galentines’ deal is when you buy four small plates you get treated to a free Absolut Vodka Galentini sharing cocktail, or a bottle of wine on the house. The other deal is the date night or mates dates menu consisting of a two course set menu meal starting from £10 each, even including vegan options.

Cùl Cùil

Cùl Cùil is one of the newer bars in Glasgow’s City Centre as it is the refurbished Courtyard Bar. This Valentine’s Cùl Cùil is offering two main meals, a chocolate fondue sharing platter and two glasses of prosecco for £30 per couple. This deal is available on the 14th, 15th and 16th of February so there’s three days to make sure you don’t miss out.

The Social

The Social is one of my personal favourite places in Glasgow to go for a drink. This bar is offering limited-edition Valentines themed cocktails which definitely won’t be getting missed as they are reduced to £5 on the 14th. As well as this, they are offering a two-course meal and cocktail for £15.95 per person with live music on all night.

Revolucion De Cuba

For more bargain date nights, Revolucion De Cuba is offering a three-course set menu for £20 per person with a free glass of prosecco on arrival. The venue also have live music from the band Facing North from 6pm-9pm. However, if you’re single and want a night out with friends Revolucion is also offering Galentines deals on the 13th with two for one on tapas, discounted prosecco and £4.50 cocktails. There’s something for everyone here.

Loop and Scoop

I might be biased because Loop and Scoop is my favourite dessert place in Glasgow but I think I saved the best valentines date idea for last. Loop and Scoop are putting a twist on their standard desserts for one week only with their limited-edition valentines special. What says Valentine’s day more than heart shaped churros? This special is available from Monday, for the whole week so there is plenty time to get to the West End to try this out.
