This show picks out new sound with the heaviest basslines and the filthiest beats. Presented by Charlie Kelly and Tom Jarvis, Partners In Grime is a music show playing the big names in grime/UK rap and adding in a mix of hand-in-hand genres such as garage, jungle, house and techno.

Grime music originated in London during the early noughties and takes influence from old school genres from dancehall to hip-hip and techno. Starting underground with artists like Wiley, Lethal Bizzle, Dizzee Rascal, they managed to get mainstream UK rap on the radio with songs such as ‘Boom Blast’ by Wiley and ‘Bonkers’ by Dizzee Rascal. After UK rap was established, grime was then born with MCs including Skepta, JME and Giggs who formed together with various other artists to create the infamous grime group Boy Better Know. Starting on pirate radio stations like Heat FM and Rinse FM, after JME’s self-produced and self-written album ‘Famous?’, The group and genre blew up with the hit song ‘Too Many Man’, being the first grime song to be played on mainstream radio.

Charlie is an aspiring music journalist and all round music lover from North London. From growing up at the heart of grime music and being surrounded by the scene since its origins, a natural love for the genre has developed with a more favourable approach to old school grime and heavy beats found in artists like JME and J Hus. Charlie brings classic beats and raw lyrics from talent across the genre to Partners in Grime. Tom is a passionate DJ favouring house and techno music and incorporating grime and rap in to his sets, particularly from the artists Flava D, Giggs and AJ Tracey. With his general love for heavy music varying across metal to gangster rap, Tom brings the best remix’s and filthiest house basslines to the show.
